Seeing as how I’m in the remedial group at our Soirees, I am soliciting guidance on an issue I have. It seems I am capable of doing the fingering with my left hand, bowing with my right and counting in my head……but not all at the same time. I can do two out of three and since counting and fingering makes no sense or counting and bowing, I therefore do the fingering and bowing and pretty much make up the timing as I go along. If all the notes (as in quarter) I’m okay but when they go from quarter to eighth to halves (and don’t even get me started on triples. What the hey? A notes a note unless we put three of them together, give them a new name and now we just count differently?), I have troubles. I have two metronomes, one electronic and one old fashion style the size of a grandfather clock. Even with that in the background going BOOM, BOOM, BOOM I still have trouble paying attention.
So I’m asking you guys since you run your hand up and down the neck and do that palsy thing with your fingers, how do you count, bow and finger all at the same time.
Signed anonymous (since Lisa thinks I can count.)
